Festival of sleep day

Festival of sleep day

The Festival of Sleep Day was created for people that would like to get some “shut eye” and relaxation after the holidays. After the Christmas shopping and present opening deadlines and the New Year celebrations, it’s time to celebrate — in “Sleep Land”. Observe this wacky and unofficial holiday on January 3rd.

JYSK, Scandinavian Sleeping & Living Experts, will be encouraging customers to indulge in a refreshing 40 winks at its ‘drop in and drop off’ centres within its stores’ mattress zones during this year’s festival of sleep.

When we nap for up to 20 minutes, we enter the first and sometimes second stages of sleep. That's just enough to refresh the mind and reap all the benefits associated with napping.

While you don’t need a bed for 40 winks, a favourite chair or sofa is just fine, the company, which is working with the JYSK Sleep Doctor, Dr John Shaw, is keen for customers to experience a little Scandinavian ‘best practice’ when it comes to nodding off.

The Scandinavians invest in sleep and reap the rewards.  They consistently top the world league tables for the happiest nations and a lot of that is down to creating a healthy sleep culture, environment and routine.

Sound sleep contributes to better mental fitness, enabling greater focus.  ‘Sleeping on it’ really does help arrive at clarity when juggling how to make the best decisions and naps are proven performance enhancers.
