We all know that Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping events of the year and as customers you can expect fantastic savings from our favourite retailers. But what is it like to work in retail during the busiest shopping period of the year? We asked Tilly Waring, Store Manager of Blackburn to give us an insight into what it's like from a retail perspective.
"Black Friday at JYSK is one of the busiest weekends of the year, it takes a huge amount of planning and preparation but brings a buzz like no other in the store. The whole team gets involved, going the extra mile to serve queues of customers with the same great customer service and product knowledge that we deliver day in day out but on a much larger scale to a lot more people!
Our aim as a store for this year's Black Friday weekend is to be top of the country again! We have taken our knowledge and learning from last year in order to make sure that this one is even bigger and better. Targets and expectations are high and we definitely aim to deliver!
Along with my team we have been reviewing last year's Black Friday planning and set up, it worked very well for us so we are using it as a base to ensure we achieve better results this year. There is always learning to be taken from big campaigns such as this one, so being able to use previous results to avoid any set backs and at the same time improve and exceed on what we already know works, is a great place to be. My main focus is around preparation of the stock room for large quantities, planning space on the shop floor and ensuring that we will have the right people in the right place at the right times."
