Table linen for a beautifully laid table

Entertaining guests at home is a great way to spend time with friends and family - without having to fork out for expensive restaurants. You'll want to make your dining setting look special, so plan an imaginative menu, polish the glasses and set the table that will wow your guests. Use tablecloths, table runners and linens for an elegant look. Cotton or linen tablecloths are a classic choice but if you prefer wiping to washing, you may want to opt for a hard-wearing vinyl table cover - pop on a textured table runner to provide a bit of contrast. Placemats will protect the surface of your table from heat and spillages - we have stylish designs that have a contemporary feel. Then you can personalise your table to suit. Add napkins, single flowers in small pots or vases, twinkling tealights and little bowls of olives and other nibbles.

Here are some helpful tips on how to set a beautifully laid table using table linen for your special occasions.

1. Keep it neutral - using neutral colours as your base to the table setting will lend itself well if you want to mix and match on the accessories for endless table setting combinations. Using tablecloths in white and grey will set the tone for a sophisticated table.
2. Layer your linen - once you've selected your tablecloth you should pair it with a table runner that complements the colour scheme, whether it's a tonal colour or a contrasting colour. Choose a runner that adds textures and dimension to your table setting.
3. Mix colours and patterns - feel free to be expressive with your table setting and combine different textures and patterns together, as long as the colours tone well together it can add interest to your table.
4. Accessories with decoration - a dinner table set for an occasion isn't complete without table centres. Use small vases filled with fresh or artificial flowers along the centre of the table, and show off your floral arrangements with tealight holders or candles.

If there are kids in the house or if you're particularly crafty a vinyl tablecloth is definitely for you. Whether you're having an afternoon of baking or you've got the paint and paper out, using a vinyl tablecloth will help to protect your table from any spillages and should these occur the vinyl is super easy to wipe clean. This helpful function also comes in handy if you've got some messy eaters in the family! Our vinyl tablecloths are available in many different designs including floral, striped and geometric patterns, they can be purchased in-store and are cut to size as per your requirements.
