We sleep approximately 1/3 of our lives. Our sleep is therefore an essential part of our overall wellbeing. This small sleep index test will give you an indication on the overall quality of your sleep.
How to improve your sleep
Both your body temperature and the temperature in your bedroom affect how warm or cold you feel. If you feel too warm during the night, we recommend a cool duvet. Bed linen in sateen, which has a smooth surface, will also help you feel cooler. If the temperature in your bedroom changes concurrently with the outside temperature, we recommend that you switch between a cool duvet during summer and a warm or extra warm duvet during winter.

Back pain may occur if your mattress is either too soft or too firm. You can easily check the firmness of your mattress: When lying on your back, you must be able to slide a hand under your lower back. If it is very easy for you to do, the mattress is too firm. If it is difficult, the mattress is too soft. When lying on your side, your shoulder and hip must sink into the mattress in order to keep your spine in alignment. If the mattress is too soft or too firm, your spine will bend.
There is no such thing as a pillow that cures all neck pain. However, it is important that your pillow suits your sleeping position. Therefore, you should use a pillow that is tailored to your preferred sleeping position. On some of our pillows, you can remove some of the filling to customize the height of the pillow to your preferences.
If you suffer from a dust mite allergy, it is important to choose a duvet, pillow and mattress pad that can be washed at 60°C or more. Furthermore, you could consider duvets, pillows and mattresses with special anti-allergy features that help eliminate dust mites.
If your mattress is either too firm or too soft, it can lead to back pain. If you experience back pain in the morning, you could benefit from a firmer or softer mattress. A mattress topper can also help compensate for a too soft or too firm mattress.
If your mattress does not suit your needs, it may disturb your sleep. If the mattress is too firm, it may cause unneccessary pressure on your hips or shoulders leaving them numb. If you are in the market for a new mattress, take your time and try it in a store. Lie on the mattress in the same position as you would at home. You can even try our GOLD mattresses at home for 100 nights to be completely sure that you have found the right mattress.
A slightly higher bed, such as a continental bed or an adjustable bed, is easier to enter and exit than a lower bed.
Sleeping on your stomach may strain your neck, especially if you sleep with a medium or high pillow. We suggest that you choose a pillow which is as low as possible. Even better, you could consider not using a pillow at all.
A medium pillow or a specialist pillow without contour helps provide support for both head and neck if you sleep on your back.
A high pillow or a specialist pillow with contour helps provide support for both head and neck if you sleep on your side.
We recommend that your duvet is 20-30 cm longer than your height. If you are more than 180 cm tall, you could consider sleeping with an extra long duvet.
We recommend that you change your mattress after 10-12 years for hygienic and physiological reasons. A mattress topper and/or mattress protector will protect your mattress against wear and tear and thereby help prolong the life of your mattress. Turning the mattress regularly will prevent the padding and foam layers from settling and forming to your body.
Daylight may disturb your sleep and cause you to wake up at undesired hours. Use blackout curtains or blinds to block out light from your bedroom.
It's up to you to decide when your duvet needs replacement. Generally, we recommend that you change your duvet every 5-10 years. Regular airing and washing according to the care label will help prolong the life of your duvet.
If your pillow is older than two years, you should consider changing it for hygienic and psysiological reasons. Regular airing and washing according to the care label will help prolong the life of your pillow.
