Enjoy shade outdoors with the right parasol

No outdoor dining area or lounge setup feels complete without a parasol. A well-placed parasol umbrella creates comfortable shade on sunny days while helping define a relaxing outdoor space for dining, reading or spending time with family.

At JYSK, you can choose between classic garden umbrellas with a centre pole and larger cantilever parasols, also known as hanging parasols or overhanging parasols. Centre-pole designs fit neatly through many garden tables, while cantilever styles keep the pole to the side for more open space underneath the canopy.

For flexible shade throughout the day, many models include tilt or rotation functions. A tilting parasol or crank and tilt parasol makes it easy to adjust coverage as the sun moves, while a large parasol or cantilever patio umbrella can help shade bigger seating areas and dining sets.

Complete the look with garden furniture, outdoor cushions and soft lighting to create a comfortable space for relaxing outdoors throughout the summer.

A garden parasol or sun umbrella is useful whenever you want to spend time outdoors while staying sheltered from direct sunlight. Whether you are enjoying lunch on the patio, relaxing with a book or gathering with friends, a parasol helps create a cooler and more comfortable seating area.

Parasols are also practical for family gardens. A large outdoor umbrella can provide shade for children playing outside, while a balcony parasol works well in smaller outdoor spaces such as balconies and terraces. Lightweight beach parasols and beach shades are also easy to move around when portable shade is needed.

Although parasols can offer temporary shelter from light drizzle, they should be closed during strong winds and when not in use to help keep them in good condition.

The best parasol for your space depends on the size of your patio, balcony or garden and how you plan to use it.

A classic garden parasol with a centre pole is often a practical choice for dining areas, especially if your garden table includes a parasol opening. These models are compact, easy to position and often include adjustable height or tilt functions.

For larger patios and lounge areas, a cantilever parasol offers more flexibility. Also known as a hanging parasol or overhanging parasol, this design positions the canopy above your seating area without a pole in the middle. Many cantilever garden parasols can also rotate or tilt for adjustable coverage throughout the day.

Smaller outdoor areas can benefit from a balcony parasol designed to fit neatly into compact spaces. When choosing your parasol, it is also worth considering canopy size, available floor space and whether you would like features such as tilt functions or a rotating frame.
