Large Cushions for Comfort at Home

A good back cushion can make a sofa, armchair or bench much more comfortable. It gives you something soft to lean against and is especially useful if you have deeper seating or simply prefer a little more support.

Large sofa cushions can also change the way your sofa looks. Place a few along the back of the sofa for a fuller, more relaxed feel, then add smaller cushions in front. You don't need everything to match. Combining different colours and textures can make the space feel more personal while still keeping it simple.

Back cushions are not just for sofas, either. Try one on a window seat, bench or even on the bed when you want somewhere comfortable to sit and read.

Floor cushions are a simple way to create extra seating without adding another chair or sofa. Put one on the floor next to the coffee table, in a reading corner or in a child's room for a relaxed place to sit.

They are also handy when you have friends or family over. Floor cushions can be moved around easily, so you can bring them out when you need extra seating and put them away afterwards.

For a cosy setup, place floor cushions on a [rug] and add a [throw] nearby. Soft textures and warm colours can make even a small corner feel more inviting.

Large cushions are a good choice when you want more comfort as well as a fuller look. Large square cushions work particularly well on sofas and beds, where they can be layered with smaller decorative cushions.

On a sofa, try starting with the larger cushions at the back and adding smaller ones in front. On a bed, large cushions placed against the headboard can give it a more relaxed look and make the bed a comfortable place to sit during the day.

You can also use cushions to bring a little more colour into a room. If your furniture is neutral, try adding a warmer shade or an interesting texture. If you already have plenty of colour, simple neutral cushions can help balance the look.

Large cushions are an easy way to make small changes without replacing the furniture you already have. Add a new throw or rug alongside them and you can give the room a fresh feel with very little effort.

A draught excluder cushion is a practical addition when the colder months arrive. Placed at the bottom of a door, it helps reduce cold air coming into the room and can make the space feel more comfortable.

Draught excluders don't have to look purely practical, either. Choose a colour or pattern that works with the rest of your home and it can become a small part of the room's décor too.

They are particularly useful in hallways, bedrooms and living rooms where you may notice cold air coming through gaps around doors. For a warmer entrance, pair a draught excluder with hallway storage, a hallway bench or other simple home accessories.

There is no need to overthink cushions. Start with the furniture you already have and think about where you would like a little more comfort.

On a sofa, larger cushions can give you more support while smaller cushions add colour and detail. In a bedroom, they can make the bed feel softer and more inviting. Floor cushions can give an empty corner a purpose, while a draught excluder adds a practical touch near the door.

Try mixing a few different textures rather than choosing everything in the same fabric. A soft cushion alongside a knitted throw can make the room feel warmer and more lived-in.

The best part is that cushions are easy to change. Swap them around with the seasons, move them to a different room or simply add a new colour when you fancy a small change at home.
