A guide to quick-dry and all-weather outdoor furniture

Short on time or storage space? Why not make things easy on yourself and get some weatherproof garden furniture, that don’t demand you to move cushions in and out in case of rain showers or before the dew falls.

There are two types of garden furniture with water repellent properties: Quick dry and all-weather outdoor furniture.

JYSK’s garden furniture within the quick-dry category can be left out in the rain for shorter periods and dries up in a few hours, depending on wind and temperature. This makes them easy for you to handle and maintain during the outdoor season.

All-weather garden furniture is even more tolerant. It is designed to survive the elements and doesn’t need to be stored away, even during wintertime. The fabric and the foam in the all-weather lounge sofas are produced in a way where the water simply runs through instead of being soaked up. The cushions dry up in a few hours, depending on wind and temperature.

Which type is right for you and your patio or balcony? It all comes down to your preference for convenience, the space that you have available for storage, and the climate that you live in. In this guide you can get further insights into the benefits of each type.

Do you have a lot of rainfall or short, but frequent rain showers? Or does it rarely rain, but do you still want to protect your garden cushions from the dew falling?
In case you experience a lot of rain, and you want to be able to use your outdoor furniture only a short while after the rain has stopped, all-weather garden furniture is probably the right choice. The cover is water repellent and dries quickly. On top of that the conditions for mould and fungus are bad both on the cover and inside the sofa.

If you only get short rain showers or you can bring inside your garden cushions to protect them, garden furniture within the quick-dry-category is for you. With cushions consisting of a special fabric with a rubber membrane, preventing water from seeping inside, quick-dry garden furniture is resistant to rain.

Do you have a cushion box, an attic, or a basement where you can easily store garden cushions and retrieve them again? Then quick-dry garden furniture might be right for you. While they can handle the dew falling and shorter rain showers, storing them indoors during the colder months is important to increase their life span.

The stylish VONGE series also includes a sun lounger in the practical quick-dry material. The thick cushion and the adjustable back make it easy to get comfy.

Keep in mind, however, that storing your weatherproof garden furniture inside during wintertime will extend its lifetime. You can easily clean it with water, soap, and a mild brush. The weather- and water resistant fabric also protects against mud, dirt, ice cream and wine, so everyone can let loose and enjoy the summer.
All-weather fabric is UV protected which means that both our lounge sofas STORHOGNA and ELLEKILDE keep the colour for a long period.

Both categories of garden furniture are ideal if you prefer to spend your time relaxing, playing with your children or chatting with friends and family, rather than moving cushions around. Quick-dry is a great choice if you experience shorter rain showers and have room for storing the cushions nearby. All-weather is for anyone who highly prioritizes convenience and durability.
